THE BIG BIKE BOX
|
After many trips with my bike and having tried almost every available bike bag, case and box all of which had shortcomings, I finally decided to design my own bike box.
In collaboration with Martin O'Brien Formes of Mordialloc (Vic.) we designed a bicycle box starting in 2003. The first prototype was grey and used industrial velcro to secure the two sheets together that made up the box. while the velcro was strong, it did tend to come apart with a bit of rough handling. In the second version we replaced these with the fold locks and haven't looked back. The second version was bright blue and made around 12 trips nationally and internationally on a variety of airlines without any problems. Satisfied with that we started commercial production and at the time, the bright red sheets were cheaper! I have all over Australia and around the world on dozens of trips with one box. They are very robust and secure and very resilient. Very hard to damage or wear out, even dragging them across concrete or asphalt. |
