Rescued this funny bike in about 2009 from a would-be hipster in St Kilda who had no idea what it was!

At the time it had a 700c wheel and fork and was a bit of a mongrel to ride. He'd also put a Sturmey Archer 3 speed fixed gear hub into the back wheel.

Got rid of all of that and started again. Alloy frame, welded, best guess made in Australia - brains trust reckons Kenevans.

Paint was shite so we blasted it and gave it something to wear until we decided on a final product - never happened. We had a rear disc track wheel that had seen better days, but still straight, glued a new road single on it and flicked off the fixed sprocket for a freewheel. Sealed bearing bottom bracket and a single speed crankset. Found a Kenesis alloy fork and built up a front wheel (clincher), had a bullhorn bar lying around, so popped that on with a front brake. Had a set of ITM aero brake levers, stuck both of them on the bars for symmetry as much as not losing track of the other one. Bit of bar tape and a pre-loved Selle Italia Flite SLR from one of my old road bikes and road it as a commuter for a few months till the the next project came along. Rides surprisingly well. I thought the small front wheel would put me a long way forward and too low to be comfortable, but really didn't notice that when riding. The gearing makes it quite quick and it weighs almost nothing, so it's not hard to get up most climbs without blowing a valve :-)

Has decorated the shop for the last few years apart from the occasional spin for a bit of fun.

Looking for its forever home, as cool casual ride, or a restoration project.
